OCEAN CURRENT TURBINES

Aquantis Turbines are a breakthrough in marine renewable energy technology, which converts the kinetic energy of either gyre or tidal ocean currents to electric power for submarine transmission to the land-based power grid.

HIGH EFFICIENCY & RESILIENT

The turbines operate at high efficiency, generating clean, predictable utility-scale electricity and integrate well with proven power generating technology using a stable spar buoy vessel, moored to anchors on the seabed, giving resiliency to the structure in extreme sea states.

DEPLOYMENT

The markets for Aquantis turbine arrays are in geographic regions with steady near-shore ocean currents, where the connection is to electric power grids serving large coastal populations. Such zones may be found on all seven continents.

TIDAL CURRENTS

The Aquantis 160kW AQ10 marine turbine generates electric power from tidal currents. The AQ10 has reduced tidal current cost-of-energy by about a third, reflecting Ecomerit’s commitment to deliver superior performance and value. The first commercial deployment is planned for the Company’s 30MW Project site in Wales

GYRE CURRENTS

The Florida Gulf Stream is a powerfull Gyre current of more than 10 GW of constant energy. Aquantis qualified for U.S. Dept. of Interior leasing program on two multi-gigawatt sites in the Gulf Stream, where the planned Aquantis 1.2MW turbines could be deployed near-term provided U.S. Government support is consistent with the urgency for energy transition.

VAST RESOURCE  POTENTIAL

Large ocean circulation patterns, also known as gyre currents, along with tidal (periodic) currents, are the marine energy resources in which Aquantis turbines can operate to generate reliable, 24/7 electric power.
